    Volunteer Now: 2012 and Beyond Tuesday 18 October, Edric Hall (London South Bank University) 6 to 8pm On behalf of the Southwark Olympic Delivery Board, and in partnership with Southwark Theatres’ Education Partnership (STEP) and Volunteer Centre Southwark, Southwark Arts Forum (SAF) is pleased to invite you to Volunteer Now: 2012 and Beyond. The event is aimed at encouraging volunteers to take part and to work with cultural organisations who are planning activities for the Olympics.

The Blue Elephant is a fringe theatre in South London supporting new and emerging artists with an exciting programme as well as delivering a high standard of education projects within the local community.

    The Programme's confirmed, the projects are lined up and the brochure is on its way to your school. This year's Festival, STEP Out Loud, is all about young people in Southwark discovering the varied methods of communication and interaction they have at their fingertips through creative expression. The Festival activities offer young people the chance to be bold in exploring new ways of communicating with each other and with an audience which will empower Southwark’s young people to be confident in how they interact with other people and the messages they wish to convey.

    Following their superb performances as part of STEP Out 2011 at The Scoop at More London on Tuesday 22nd June, STEP has offered the girls from Harris Academy Bermondsey the chance to perform their dances again as part of the Youth Theatre Showcase on Friday 15th July. The girls will open and close the show.

    Congratulations to the Young Dance Company at Theatre Peckham who won first place (Community Groups) at the Southwark Dance Challenge on 22nd June at Unicorn Theatre. The Young Dance Company will now move on to the National Finals, taking place on 17th July at Cadagon Hall to compete against other groups from around the UK.

    Every year in July and November, STEP holds a Youth Theatre Showcase to bring together different youth theatre groups from across Southwark to perform their pieces to one another, praising and critique each other's work. On Friday July 15th, the eight YTS will take place at Theatre Peckham. Interested in getting involved in youth theatre in Southwark?
