STEP, in partnership with Southwark Children's Services, is pleased to announce the launch of the Southwark Costumes and Aretfacts Service (SCAS). SCAS is a rich resource of costumes and artefacts, to support teachers across all the key stages of classroom teaching. The collections reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of Southwark pupils.

The next STEP Youth Theatre Showcase will be on Friday 16th July at 7pm at Theatre Peckham. There will be performances from Southwark Playhouse's YoCo, Theatre Peckham and Real Drama. The whole event will be compered by the STEP Young Comperes who have been attending workshops over the last few weeks.

Following on from a pilot Southwark Street Arts Academy, set up in autumn 2009 between Emergency Exit Arts and STEP in partnership with Mayhem Youth Theatre and SE1 United, STEP and EEA are working together again in 2010 to offer 30 young people in Southwark the chance to join this year's Street Arts Academy.

The five schools involved in the STEP Out! 2010 Project have been confirmed and begun their first sessions towards the final performance in June.

Four new teachers have signed up to support STEP by becoming members of the STEP Advisory Board. These teachers from The Charter School, Harris Academy Bermondsey, Bessemer Grange Primary and St Mary Magdalene Primary will attend regular meetings with the STEP Board of Directors to help shape STEP policy and programming and feed into STEP's strategy to support Southwark schools, teachers and young people in their delivery of performing arts activites.

Following the success of the STEP Festival 2009 Evaluation Meeting held on Monday 15th March 2010 at LSBU which was attended by STEP Theatre and Performing Arts Partners, teachers and STEP Board members, we are planning to hold more regular opportunities for partners to come together and evaluate STEP and their contribution to the organisation.

As part of the Diploma in Creative and Media, now in its second year of delivery in Southwark schools, young people from The Charter School and St Michael and All Angels Academy collaborated to create three different performances which were staged at the Unicorn Theatre on Thursday 11th February 2010. The project is run by STEP and financed by Southwark 14-19 Partnership.
